Other Stuff We Get Involved In
INTRO
This section is devoted to topics which fall outside of my/our main areas of business (illustration, design etc.) but which may be of interest to you. Some of this is for fun. Some of it is other kinds of work we do in the fields of animation, video and music.
In many cases we were, or still are, involved in both production, editing and animation for these, and other, projects.
GRIEF LITE - A PLAY WITH FILM TREATMENTwritten and directed by Anne Tillyer (2004)
Anne regularly collaborates on video projects with PWA as camera-woman, video producer and editor. When she isn't busy working slaving over an edit suite she writes books and plays. She has a very dark sense of humour! She produced and directed the Grief Lite with the help of PWA and a multitude of friends and friendly actors.
Grief Lite is set in a future where the ever increasing population never dies. Constant operations patch up people but the results aren't pretty. Emotionally, people have left behind the true feelings of sadness and bereavment as death seldom occurs. They no longer have the ability to relate to these feelings.
Grief Lite is a company that offers its clients that chance to experience those emotions by staging mock funerals and deaths for a member of your family be it a human or treasured pet.
The play begins with family members watching TV. Eventually the Grief Lite ad appears and convinces them that this would be a great experience for their mum...
The actors interact with the on-screen action throughout the production and eventually even the audience become involved.
Here are a few production stills to give you a taster...

TRANSPONTINE - A FILM FEATURING THE WORK OF ARTISTS
JOHN FREEMAN & JAKE TILSON - directed by Roger Elsgood, editing and animation by Paul Wootton (2000).
Transpontine was selected for the British Short Film Festival 2000 and documents a journey of a woman over Hungerford Bridge in London. The film comprised hundreds of still photographs montaged with the work of the two artists. PWA did the animation and editing for this project.
Here are a few still frames from the film.

BUSY BEE - A PROMOTIONAL VIDEO FOR 'THE BRAIN OF MORBIUS'
- directed by Anne Tillyer, editing and animation by Paul Wootton (2002).
What can we say...this is a completely mad four minute video based around the lyrics of Busy Bee. The 'Brain' are a South-East London band of 20 years standing and have achieved a large cult following both in London and all over Europe.
Probably the craziest project we've ever undertaken - the song is great!
